If you can think back a very long time ago to the Paleolithic era—that age when our great ancestors first learned that stones made handier tools than bare hands—then you’ll understand how long archery has been around. Yes, as far back as ancient Egypt to the Assyrians and Babylonians, all the way to Hebrews of the Old Testament, archery has been practiced in sport, hunting and warfare since humans had hands. Today, though, we have the know-how to select archery bows that work best for our modern needs.
There are three types of bows used today, and variations of these even exist. Essentially, the basic three are the traditional longbow, the recurve bow and the compound bow. The longbow was used in medieval combat, because it shoots hard and straight. Often, too, the longbow is no taller than the archer using it. The archer can draw the string, take aim and shoot over long distances. The only downfall might be the cumbersome height and the long draw makes loading an arrow take longer. In hunting, this may be critical to the kill.
The recurve bow, by name, has a different sort of shape. The tips often curve and point away from the archer. Additionally, these two curves are set against the natural curve of the bow itself, providing more power with less bow height. Quicker turning and maneuverability makes the recurve bow especially good in woods and forest. When the recurve bow is strung (unlike the longbow), the string will actually touch the upper portions of the bow itself.
The compound bow uses the most of today’s technology meshed with age-old wisdom. The compound bow enables the shooter to pull the string and “hold” it more easily. That is, when the archer pulls back on the string, two cams shift, holding the string taut in place. Not only does this provide more let-off (holding weight from pulling weight) and power, but equips the bow with more stability. This affords greater sight and aim for the archer.
Now that you have some idea of the basic types of bows (excluding the crossbow), it is easier to decide which archery bow suits you best. After which, there are other factors to consider when selecting an archery bow. One of the first, then, may be budget. The cost of the bows above can start under fifty dollars to the upper hundreds. Before you lay down the big bucks, be sure to test the bow before you buy it.
It’s wise to have a basic understanding of the techniques for each too. You can often join a club or take lessons where the bow(s) will be provided. Moreover, buying a used bow for the first few months may save you several hundred dollars should you change your mind later. Go with the bare basics and move to the more luxurious later.
Additionally, it is smart to buy an archery bow that will benefit your cause. There are different reasons to use varying types of archery bows: These include but are not limited to hunting (such as deer hunting), competition (such as field archery and 3D archery) or simple personal enjoyment (such as at home target practice).
If you’re going to be dashing through the woods chasing small woodland creatures, you won’t want the same bow as used in target archery competition. Be sure to speak to club members, store staff and experienced archers before you select your personal favorite bow. Research before selecting your perfect archery bow will save you money and keep you from learning the hard way (more expensive way) later.

The new rules concerning the chemical policy of the European Union had became reality; on December 13th 2006 the European Parliament approved the new Regulation of Chemicals known as REACH . Some days after the EU Council adopted REACH on 18th December and published it on December 30, 2006 on the Official Journal of the European Union as Regulation EU no. 1907/2006.The guidelines of regulation will be published within few months in 2007. The regulation has been voted in plenary session with 529 positive agreements, 98 negative and 24 abstains, that will permit to REACH to enter into force on 1st June 2007 with the first requirements and all along the 2008 for other requirements.
Companies involved would be all those that import or produce chemicals (phase-in and new substance) over 1 ton per year in the European Union. Important principles will therefore be the importation the manufacturing and/or the placing on the EU market of chemicals, For more dangerous substances (those under authorisation) a plan of substitution should be developed by the companies in order to switch to safer alternatives; this is a key point under the new regulation. The following main points represents the pillars of the new regulation Duty of care: Manufactures, importers and downstream users are responsible of a safe introduction into the market of chemical substances in order to take care of human health and environment. Therefore Competent Authorities are no longer the responsible for the safety of compounds and the application of the risk management measures but companies themselves before registration. Data sharing: The regulation promote a list of dispositions that encourage companies to share available data on substances that have to be registered, and request to inform the consumers on dangerous substances that can be found in final products.
Promotion of alternative methods to animal testing: The regulation promote the use of alternative methods to animal testing. Methods that first shall be validated by the EU Commission. Furthermore in order to avoid duplications of tests on animals, companies involved will have the possibility to declare the availability of a data (especially performed on vertebrate animals) to be shared with other possible registrant data before starting a new test. A SIEF (Substance Information Exchange Forum) of all data coming form registration or from a pre-registration procedure will be exchanged between interested companies. Registration and Chemical Safety Report: Companies must register every chemical substance imported or produced over or equal 1 ton per year, to the ECA (European Chemical Agency) which will be placed in Helsinki. Every substance over 10 tons per year, must be also followed by a Chemical Safety Report, dispositions of which will be listed in one of regulation annex. Pre-registration (phase-in substances) A substance which has a EINECS number; has been manufactured but not placed on the market 15 years before the entry into force of the regulation and/or is considered a no-longer polymer may be pre-registered in order to benefits of a transitional period to enter in the system. The transitional period is divided in three main periods, 3.5, 6 and 11 eleven years to allow the registration of all the phase-in substances
Authorisation: The more dangerous substances (CMR, PBT, vPvB, etc.) are subjected to authorisation by the EU Commission. The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) will produce a list of candidate substances considered dangerous and therefore submitted to authorisation. Authorisations are temporary, since they should be substituted. Their validities will be valuated case by case. Substitution: Producers and importers of authorized substances have to submit to the ECA a report of alternatives in order to substituted the dangerous product. If the report shows the evidence that suitable alternative exists, companies must submit to ECA a substitution plan, and a detailed calendar of actions to undertake. Restrictions: Every substance considered very dangerous will be listed in a specific annex. For those strong production and importation restrictions will be adopted.
Conclusion The new regulation is considered in Europe a sort of revolution in the approach of the safety for chemicals manufactured or introduced in the European market; the most important news is that all actors in the supply chain of a chemical will have some responsibility in the process towards the Competent Authorities, the Agency and/or the its supplier or its downstream user. Non EU companies which imports chemicals to Europe need to understand the mechanisms of the new regulation as they may have some impact on their business. Therefore It’s becoming urgent for all (manufacturers, importers, downstream users and non EU companies) to act proactively to face the new REACH requirements in order to be prepare for the 2008 application. REACH is a regulation directly applied in all member States without any reinforcement in the legislative system of each European country.
Companies needs to create a multidisciplinary team involving different internal functions such as: - Management to allocate human and financial resources; - Regulatory Office to prepare registrations and general paper work; - HSE Heads for the occupational and environmental aspects; - Legal Office in order to manage the consortia and commercial relationships with competitors; - Sales and Marketing office to check the market implications.
It is expected that large companies will not have huge problems to comply with the new regulation but small medium enterprises (SME) will need to re-organize their internal resources and surely to ask for support from external specialized bodies able for:
- Chemical Safety Report preparation; - Data bank searches; - Monitoring of committed safety studies (toxicology, ecotoxicology/environmental fate and physico-chemistry); - Support to set testing programmes on the basis of the manufacturing levels and type of substance (intelligent testing); - Economic evaluation of the testing programme in case of consortia participation; - Exposure scenario and Risk Assessment.

The life of IT staff in the Education sector is so often focused on squeezing every last drop of life out of every hardware and software project. You need to run lean and mean, and simply can’t afford indulgences or risky ventures. However, the challenges you face are no different than the corporations you pass by on the way to work every day.
A recent study at the Trinity School in New York City exposed the overwhelming amount of data that the typical institution has to manage. Trinity has seen staggering increases in data as they have moved to offer 24/7 online access to information for their students and teachers. Schools are simply no longer 9-5 operations. Implementing an automatic defragmentation solution saved the school significant expenses on new hardware and freed up IT to focus on progressive technology projects.
The demands at Trinity School are likely similar to what your IT team is challenged with; leveraging what you have to accommodate every increasing demands.
If a PC could run in production for 5 to 7 years, that will offer tremendous flexibility to the IT budget. After all, the users are running the typical office apps, and they ran fine on those new PCs several years ago. Unless there is a new critical program that requires quad core CPUs and 3GB of RAM, those older PCs are capable of getting the job done.
The only problem with PCs that have been in production for a while is they will be more prone to problems that require Help Desk involvement, i.e. maintenance and repair.
Windows IT Pro published an in-depth study that showed just how much impact fragmentation has on the typical productivity apps and PC use. The longer a PC is in use the more severe accumulation of fragmentation your users, and ultimately you, have to deal with.
Looking at the results, teachers, students and administrative staff that expect a Word document to load quickly can wait as long as 50.9 seconds. That’s a long time to stare at an hourglass, and is the kind of performance impact that often leads to a Help Desk call. Automatic defragmentation keeps file access optimized, so those users get consistent peak performance, lessening demands for “faster computers” as their answer for their performance problems.
Fragmentation affects the servers just as much as the PCs, if not more so. Servers host data that multiple users, maybe hundreds, need access to. The hardware is more powerful, but the demands are far greater.
Fragmentation is a file system consideration. NTFS sees a fragmented file and issues extra I/Os to retrieve the data.
As an example that every school or university has to deal with, increases in retained data are translating to ever increasing backup time requirements. The problem is that as backup programs have to read files, when fragmentation is involved, it adds extra time to the process. IT staff have used Disk Management Software to shrink back up times from 16 hours to less than 4 hours.

Niche affiliate marketing in recession proof industries will always be a way to keep cash flowing in any economy. Some products and services people will always feel they need or want.
The recession of 2009 will likely be a scary one for many, if for no other reason than the doom and gloom reported in the media every minute of every day. But it doesn’t have to be scary. If you normally listen to the news/talk channels start limiting the amount of time you tune in. Instead, use this little piece of modern technology you are looking at to get your mind off of the bad news.
The American Dream used to be understood as owning your own home, your own little piece of the universe. But more and more you hear that owning you own business has become a big part of the dream. And there is no better way to start than internet marketing. Why? It is relatively easy and inexpensive. There is little overhead, no inventory needed (that can’t be stored on your hard drive or the internet), and you can progress at your own pace because you are the boss.
For someone just starting out, you may wonder how money is made on the internet. You know it is being done because there is no shortage of online gurus and articles (like this one) telling you of the untold riches being made online. But if you are like me, an extra $500-1000/month would be sufficient. One of the best and quickest ways to do that is niche affiliate marketing.
A niche is a subject that many, and maybe even you, share an interest in, like indoor roses. You could create you own report, manual, or book on everything you know about growing indoor roses. Or you could find one that has already been written and get permission as an affiliate to sell it to that niche.
But is the growing indoor roses niche an interest that is likely to survive through the recession? Well, we will probably be spending more time at home to save money so our roses would likely get more attention during this period. So that might be an example of a recession proof niche. Learn how to market to the indoor roses niche though and you can market to any niche at will.
Some of the many advantages to selling someone else’s product are no inventory to keep, no employees to hire and deal with, and reduced bookkeeping requirements. Internet marketing also lends itself well to having most every task put on autopilot; set it up once and, with minimal attention, it works 24/7 for you.
You have some choices. You can work in a recession proof industry, or you can market to people or companies that have ties to these industries, or both. Pick the choice you have the most control over, learn all you can about how to do it while you make money at it (I recommend niche affiliate marketing at first), and never worry again about the state of the economy.
Dickie Smith has worked in financial services for over 30 years. He supports niche affiliate marketing as a good way to recession proof your income. For further discussion of recession proof industries see the Recession Proof Industries Report available through http://yrtimenow.com
Affiliate marketing is both new and old. It is new in that it has a new delivery system – the internet. It is old in that it is similar to the past sales systems where sales reps sell a product that someone else owns, earning a commission for doing so. The difference in the two is significant. In contrast to sales representation, affiliate marketing means no inventory having to be carried, low-cost business, unlimited income potential, worldwide customer base, low risk due to no-cost or low-cost startup, and twenty-four hour business due to the nature of internet marketing. It is THE way to make money in sales. Affiliate marketing makes it easier than ever to make a good income with a minimum of time and money.
How do you profit from affiliate marketing? You invest a minimum of money and time in promoting someone else’s product on mail lists or websites. You have to find the right product and the right way to promote that product. Often, article marketing is the perfect way to promote the product, involving writing information filed articles about topics related to your product you wish to promote. For example, if you are promoting a dog training book, you might right articles about dog health, filled with useful information. The key to this is search engine optimization (SEO), meaning you discover the right keywords that will bring traffic to your site or article, but that is not so popular that you have to compete with thousands of competitors.
There is three ways you get paid in affiliate marketing. One is pay per click, where every time someone clicks on your affiliate link that is either in your article, in your email signature, or on your website, a certain, agreed-upon amount is added to your account. This compensation is usually very low, from a few cents to a dollar or so, because just clicking through is no guarantee that the person will purchase the product. Still, every click through is a potential customer, either immediately or at sometime in the future. Many affiliate programs record the customer identifying information so that if they come back and buy later, you get credit for the sale. Another method of compensation is pay per sale. This involves only getting paid if the customer actually buys the product. Usually the compensation is the most with this method, ranging from 10% to as much as 75%. Some affiliate programs just give a set compensation amount, but they usually fall within that percentage range. Another method of compensation is based on pay per lead. In this method, you get a small amount deposited every time someone registers at the merchant website after clicking on your affiliate link. Again, some programs also keep a record of this contact and pay a percentage if a sale is made.
What are some keys to success in affiliate marketing? They include all of the following:
* High quality content – Whatever you use to promote your affiliate product, whether articles, emails, or websites, you need to provide good quality content that is related to your product. This content needs to be updated periodically so your potential customers will come back repeatedly. This is especially important if you are promoting multiple products from the same merchant or the same or related products.
* A newsletter or email campaign – This is often done using an autoresponder which entails very little effort on your part past the initial setup. Just don’t forget to update if you are using an autoresponder so that your content is always current to marketing trends and news that benefits you. Use this method to present new information, make frequent contact with good relevant content, or to let the customer know when you update your website with new information.
* Networking – This involves joining email lists, blogs, or webrings. Any time you can take advantage of someone else’s traffic, you have to work less.
* Optimize your content – Optimizing content means knowing what are the popular keywords, but keywords that are not so competitive that you may never reach the first page of the search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) just means making your content such that searches for certain keywords will mean your listing will be on the first page.
* Tracking results – You can’t know what is working or not working unless you have a method to track what is happening. Track ads, articles, website visits, ROI, click throughs, and any other information that will tell you what is working and what is not as effective.
To succeed at affiliate marketing, it is important to choose the right product, right merchant, and the right marketing method. Keep all the above affiliate marketing tips in mind and you will enjoy success in affiliate marketing and earn a very decent income with very little investment of time and money.

Recent data security and retention regulatory requirements have kept healthcare IT staff busy for the past few years. With Google, Revolution Health, and Microsoft moving to expand healthcare/medical search facilities, SOA initiatives related to information sharing and accessibility are being added to the never shrinking To-Do list of those same IT departments. The future of healthcare is demanding that while employees may or may not be working around the clock, information certainly will have to be.
With new technology comes a new competitive landscape, molded around information management. This new market requires reliable infrastructures on which to build patient or B2B portals. IT is playing an increasingly more vital role in the success of healthcare and life sciences organizations. The race is on.
Just like a building requires a solid and stable foundation, so do SOA and modern IT initiatives. Just keeping the PCs and Servers running can no longer be the primary responsibility. IT needs to minimize or eliminate the time spent on maintenance operations. That’s not to say that maintenance can be eliminated, just that it has to be done efficiently and invisibly.
It’s fairly well known that defragmented files mean faster file writes and retrievals. However, file fragmentation, if not handled, will build up to the point that reliability is jeopardized. A solid and stable system foundation demands efficiencies from the slowest part of the computer – the disk subsystem. Slow and or unreliable systems at the core will trickle up to applications that drive the business and jeopardize the viability of information flow and accessibility.
Fragmentation can relentlessly extend load times for large documents, such as from a medical imaging device, which can easily exceed a gigabyte. When a doctor or scientist attempting to access patient records or lab results is staring at an hourglass, vital contributors to business productivity and profitability are negatively affected.
Fragmentation affects the servers just as much as the PCs, if not more so. Servers host data that multiple users, maybe hundreds, need access to. The hardware is more powerful, but the demands are far greater. Waiting for data is bad enough when the end user is staring at an hourglass, but it’s even worse if that employee is engaged with a patient, because now the patient has to wait as well.
Automatic defrag keeps file access optimized, so those users get consistent peak performance, and patients/customers get the rapid service they expect. With such growing competition in the healthcare and life sciences industry, quality of service is a major competitive advantage.
Hospitals never close their doors, but even for outpatient facilities, the days of 9-5 are fading. Patients and their physicians demand access to medical records 24 / 7 / 365. And when those users/patients log in they are accessing data through web portals on company servers.
Michael Materie, Director of Product Management at a renowned disk management software company noted an interesting phenomenon. “Patients are starting to expect access to their medical information any time – day or night. And, healthcare professional have the same demands of their suppliers. Off-hours are becoming a thing of the past. We understand that there is no window of time that can be relegated to computer maintenance activities like defragmentation.”

In the era of globalization, there may be numerous alternate service providers. But, eventually Darwin’s theory reestablishes itself ‘survival of the fittest’ and hence only few remain in our memory. For instance, in terms of answering services MAP Communications Inc always rules on the horizon. Basically such services have become the parameter of quality service. If you are a service provider then it does not mean that your responsibility ends by receiving money from customer end. True professionals remain accountable even after selling the product because customer base matters a lot for them.
Here, the key issue is the focus. Either you can focus upon your core service or you can focus upon subsidiary services like answering. Hence, numerous answering services providers are rapidly emerging in the market. They significantly promise efficient, cost saving and enhance features in their services but rare companies adhere with their words till the last hour. What should we expect from a hardcore answering service provider? This is a major question for all service providers and service seekers as well.
Demands and intensity level of answering services depend upon the core product. For instance, medicine or lives saving drugs require high intensity level of answering services. Hence, you need ergonomically developed answering such as:-
1) Toll free number, because even a poor person may need such services.
2) Instant response with prompt back up to ensure emergency does not become a disaster.
3) Call pick up time must be fastest.
4) Customer calls never should be on hold mode.
Similarly, requirement for technical services would be different. Answering service provider must possess qualities like:-
1) Good understanding of technical terminology.
2) Every customer does not be tech friendly so handle with care is required there.
Besides above mentioned points, personality measures also play huge importance for an answering service provider. Key requirements in answering service executives are crystal clear and soft spoken voice with enormous patience. Software may assist a bit but it can not be a perfect alternate of human resource. Almost all prominent answering service providers are perfectly aware with this fact and hence they offer customized service system. Under such service system, as per the requirement company precisely segregate the roles of software and human resources. A perfect human resource can be created by absolute contentment amongst employees because a half hearted work can not be acceptable in answering services.
Thus undoubtedly, all new concept of answering service has been proved very effective but it has germinated bundles of expectations and a huge challenge is rising ahead. Challenges are not only confined with the support and satisfaction of customers, even it has incorporated the task of business development.
Thus in concluding words, answering service is comparatively a very new concept in service sector and it has been welcomed whole heartedly. If, such overwhelming response is quite encouraging then it is challenging as well. The big challenges for answering services would be consistence expansion of customer base and consistent relevancy of the services in contemporary dynamic market.

We live in a Universe of Laws and Rules. The Universe is harmonious and precise. It does not fail, even when we think it is being though on us. One of the Universal Laws that has become the focus of attention and conversations lately, due to the huge success of the hit movie “The Secret”, is the Law of Attraction. And that is a great and important step for the evolution of mankind as a whole. The understanding and application of this Law is one essential step towards self-development.
We are indeed moving along a path of evolution, regardless of what anybody may say or think. Evolution is part of life, another Universal Law. What some fail to understand is that this evolutionary path may include some suffering. But, is suffering necessarily important or essential to our growth?
I have heard it said that “if we do not learn by love, we have to learn by pain”. Following that thought, we must assume that suffering may be a result of us not living in harmony with some important Universal Laws. It is the Universe giving us a clear message that we’re still failing somewhere.
To me the best definition of “spirituality” is: living in harmony with Universal Laws. And that way of living could bring the end of suffering and a quickening to our individual and collective growth. However, most of mankind still lacks the required knowledge and guidance to reach this goal. No wonder, we were not taught about these Laws in School, we don’t know better.
So, what should be our first goal in life, before health, abundance, power, magnetism? To me it should be learning and applying the Universal Laws that we know about. We may not know all of them, but the ones we know so far are more than enough to start with.
My definition of happiness is the same as my definition for “spirituality”; living in harmony with Universal Laws. Once we are able to reach this harmony, happiness is natural, we don’t have to search for it, and we don’t have to strive for it. It just happens.
So, start by asking yourself: “Am I living in harmony with the Universal Laws that I know, or am I just an intellectual knower?” Just reading it will not suffice, just believing or agreeing with it is not enough. We must take this seriously, as a life path. And, as any specialist in any area, we must refine our practice each and every day. The Law of Attraction, for example, is not to be used only when we are in need or distress, like most people use prayer, as a form of escape. We must be aware of it, and observe how attraction is working on our lives. Reverse attraction is a fact; it is attracting that which you do NOT want. So, the Law works regardless, and it is neutral. We are the ones who must use it correctly, pretty much like electricity, gravity and the laws of mathematics. If we are not happy, it means that we are failing to harmonize with some Universal Law.

What is bum marketing? Can you use it to increase website traffic, and can it be an important part of your affiliate marketing strategy? How can you start a bum marketing campaign?
We’ll look at these questions and more. Bum marketing is just a type of article marketing. It is called bum marketing because, the author of the term says, it is a method that even a bum off the street can do. It is article marketing, but with a twist.
What is article marketing? It is simply a method where you write articles based on a topic, using keywords you have researched. You include your resource box to give readers the opportunity to click on your links to go to your website or blog for more information and ultimately to buy your product or affiliate product.
What is the difference between article marketing and bum marketing? The main difference is the focus. In article marketing, the idea is to get the author’s website on the main page of search engines, thus enabling you to increase search engine traffic. In bum marketing, the idea is to get the article on the main page. This is much easier than getting the website to the main page. This is because Google loves rich content, and since article directories provide this content, they rank on the main page. If you place your articles in directories, as bum marketing focuses on, you will use the ranking of the article directories to your advantage.
Tips for using bum marketing in your advertising campaign include:
1. Find a lucrative niche, balancing between popularity and competitiveness.
2. Find a product for this niche. Information products can be found through Clickbank. You may have your own product, but can make money just promoting other’s products.
3. Write at least ten articles based on these keywords and products.
4. Write killer titles for each article. The title should include the keyword or keyword phrase just as you researched it.
5. Create a blog account and blog related to your topics. Include a link to your affiliate product in the blog.
6. Create great resource boxes with your personal information in them. Create more than one. Link to your blog in the resource box.
7. Submit your articles to article directories, varying the resource boxes that all point to the product that relates to your article. Make sure the product and the article content relate.
8. Repeat the above steps with a new product, blog, and articles.
The steps above are just an overview of the topic. Learn as much as you can about each one, searching for all the information you can glean about each in order to use the tip to the fullest possible.
Article writing is not hard. It seems intimidating at first, but as you work through it, things become easier. You don’t have to be a great writer, and don’t even have to have excellent grammar. However, to be seen as a professional, you should strive to write as well and as correctly as you possibly can. You will get better as you repeat these steps.
Bum marketing is simply article marketing taken up a notch, made easier and more to the point. The goal is not to get to the top of the search engine pages with your site. It is simply to have your article on that page. Then, surfers looking for your keyword information will click on your article, and will ultimately be led to your affiliate site to buy your product.
Though you might not make a lot of money with each article, the sheer volume of all the articles your write will bring you a lucrative income. Just a dollar or two on each article, earned daily due to click throughs, can lead to a good income without much effort.
Another source of income using this method is through paid ads shown on your article site. Getting involved in paid for ads will bring a small but consistent additional source of income.
Additionally to sales you might get, you can build a huge mailing list by offering a free report or newsletter that people sign up for. As any marketer knows, a mailing list is a gold mine. So, even if you don’t strive for sales, at least give the opportunity for readers to sign up for your newsletter or free report.
